HOW IT HAPPENED

Saint Louis had an early opportunity to take the lead when it earned a penalty kick in the 4' minute. Juan Carlos Rodriguez, however, was up to the challenge and made the stop to keep the Billikens off the board.

The Bisons got its first good look in the 12' minute with a corner kick. Patrick Walz ended up with the ball at his feet and sent a shot, but it went wide.

Lipscomb continued to attack and broke through in the 14' minute. Malachi Jones received the ball on the right flank and dribbled through a pair of defenders and got the ball to his left foot. He hammered a shot to the back of the net for a 1-0 Lipscomb lead.

The Bisons didn't let up and found the back of the net again in the 16' minute. Tyler Stinnett moved the ball down the left side of the field and cut into the box, sending a cross in front of goal. SLU attempted to clear the ball, but Yuushin Nakagawa was waiting just outside the top of the box and collected the ball. His shot found itself inside the right post for a 2-0 Bisons advantage.

SLU got on the board in the 25' minute when a scrum in the box ended up with the ball finding the back of the net, cutting the Lipscomb lead 2-1.

The game was wide open for the last minutes of the first frame. The Bisons had a great look in the final seconds of the first half when Ploutarchos Alonefti unleashed a shot that skirted just wide of the near post and the score stayed 2-1 in favor of the Bisons at the halftime break.

The second half saw much back-and-forth action and the Bisons had another great look in the 72' minute when Alonefti sent in a free kick that Nick Dang put a head to. His shot was saved at the post to keep the score 2-1 in favor of Lipscomb.
Saint Louis was awarded another penalty in the 77' minute, but once again Rodriguez was up to the challenge and made the save to keep Lipscomb ahead 2-1.

Lipscomb settled down defensively for the final minutes of the match and defended its way to a 2-1 victory over No. 15 Saint Louis.
