Softball’s Josey Polk Named ASUN Player of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. – Lipscomb softball completed an impressive weekend at the Carolina Classic, hosted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, this weekend with a 3-1 record. For her efforts in helping the Bisons to their winning weekend, redshirt sophomore Josey Polk earned this week's ASUN Softball Player of the Week title.

In the Bisons' Saturday game against Mount St. Mary's, she recorded walk-off single to give the Bisons the RBI they needed to claim their 6-5 win over the Mounts with one hit in two at-bats and claiming two putouts as a defensive member of Lipscomb's lineup.

On Sunday, she recorded both the Bisons' first run of the game and a grand slam home run to extend Lipscomb's lead from one to five towards their 5-3 win over George Washington. With her input in the field, the Bisons tallied 21 putouts and seven assists, four of which came from Polk, herself.

In the squad's second game on Sunday, Polk recorded two hits in three at-bats against North Carolina, including a double to help keep the Bisons' offense aggressive throughout the game. Defensively, she logged a putout and four assists against North Carolina, helping the Bisons claim a 1-0 win over the Tar Heels and a 3-1 record this weekend, cutting off the tournament hosts' hopes for a perfect weekend.

The Bisons will compete in their 2024 home opener Wednesday, Feb. 28^th as they welcome the Belmont Bruins to their home field for a matchup beginning at 3:00pm CT.
