NASHVILLE, TN – Lipscomb's men's and women's cross country teams raced in the Belmont Opener to start the 2024 season. The race took place at Percy Warner Park in Nashville, TN, where the men's team placed third and the women's team placed fifth.
The women's 5k started at 8:00 AM CT and placed fifth as a team with a total of 138 points.
Juane' Klaus placed the highest of any Lipscomb runner in 22
nd place with a time of 19:37.2, closely followed by
Ella Johnson with a time of 19:37.5 for 23
rd place.
Kaylee Wilson also finished in the top-30 with a time of 19:47.3 to place 27
th.
Carly Miller and
Allena Klamorick rounded out the squad placing 41
st and 42
nd with times of 21:39.5 and 21:54.4 respectively.
The men's team started their 5k at 9:10 AM CT with a total score of 84 points. The Bisons were led by Junior William Goodrich. Goodrich finished fourth overall out of the 54 athletes with a time of 15:25.7.
Evan Allen crossed the line with a time of 15:35.5 to place sixth.
Lipscomb's
Trey Haralson crossed the line 21
st with a time of 16:08.2 and was followed closely behind by
Sam Widmaier, who finished with a time of 16:28.1 and placed 31
st. The Bisons were rounded out by Connor Sarokovics who placed 34
th with a time of 16:48.4 and
Michael Polizzi, finishing 42
nd with a time of 17:24.9.
The Bisons will compete in their next race at the Trevecca Opener next Saturday, Sep. 7
th. The women's 5k will start at 8:00 AM CT and the men's at 8:50 AM CT at Vaughn's Gap Course in Nashville, TN.
