NASHVILLE, TN – Will Goodrich finished fourth overall at the Belmont Opener on Aug. 30
th to earn the first ASUN Cross Country Men's Runner of the Week award in the 2024 season.
Goodrich's 15:25.7 time in the 5k at the opening meet of the season led all Bisons, finishing 13.4 seconds behind first place. His average mile pace was 4:57.5, running the first 1.6 miles of the race in 7:43.7. Goodrich's stellar performance was a personal best in the 5k and placed him above 50 other athletes competing in the race.
Will's outstanding run helped the Bisons place third overall with a total time of 1:20:36 and a team average of 16:08. Lipscomb scored 84 to finish above Tennessee Tech, Western Kentucky, and Presbyterian.
Prior to this season, Goodrich competed for Miami University in his home state of Ohio, where he competed in his freshman and sophomore years. Will cites the team, coaches, and overall team culture at Lipscomb as his main reasons for joining the Bisons. At Miami Ohio, he ran in the 8k for cross country and the 1500m and 3000m for track and field.
In his junior season, Goodrich will look to continue leading the Bisons as their next race takes place on Sept. 7
th. Lipscomb will be attending the Trevecca Opener in Nashville, TN with a women's start time of 8:00 AM and the men's at 8:50 AM.
