Box Score 2 GREENVILLE, SC – Lipscomb Softball split Day 2 of the Furman Tournament on Saturday, falling to Towson in the opener before responding with a run-rule victory over host Furman in the second game.
GAME 1: TOWSON 5, LIPSCOMB 3
The Bisons struck first in the top of the fourth inning when Elizabeth Martin doubled to left-center, driving in Presley Rader and Brenna Sherman to give Lipscomb a 2–0 lead.
Towson answered in the bottom of the inning to tie the game and continued to build momentum through the middle frames. The Tigers pushed across three runs to take control and held off a late Lipscomb push to secure the 5–3 win.
Martin led the Bisons offensively with a two-RBI double, while Rader and Sherman each crossed the plate during the fourth-inning rally.
Elizabeth Martin started in the circle and worked 3.1 innings, allowing four hits and two runs. Macey Ogle followed in relief, pitching two innings and allowing three runs, two earned. Jesyne Espinal recorded the final two outs without allowing a run.
GAME 2: LIPSCOMB 14, FURMAN 4 (5 INNINGS)
Lipscomb wasted no time in the follow-up, erupting for a massive first inning to take control early. Elizabeth Martin singled through the left side to drive in two runs before the Bisons capitalized on defensive miscues and timely hitting to build a commanding lead.
The offensive surge continued as Chapel Cunningham doubled to left field to drive in two more runs, extending the advantage. Lipscomb continued to pile on runs throughout the game, opening up a 14–4 lead by the fifth inning.
With the run-rule in effect, the Bisons closed out the victory after five innings to earn a dominant bounce-back win.
Lipscomb's lineup produced runs throughout the order, capitalizing on aggressive baserunning and consistent pressure at the plate to overwhelm Furman.
