GLENDALE, Ariz. / PHOENIX – The Lipscomb University Men's Tennis team split on the team's first day of competition in Arizona, as the Bisons defeated Arizona Christian University, 4-1, before falling to No. 60 Grand Canyon University 6-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED, ARIZONA CHRISTIAN
In doubles play,
Facundo Perlov and
Alex Vlahos (5-2) and
Filippo Verdese and
Henrique Ushizima both earned 6-1 results at the top two flights to secure the team point.
Playing to clinch, despite the Firestorm taking the No. 3 flight, Ushizima,
Oskar Szymczak (14-8) and
Oliver Thoeny (3-3) won the last three flights to secure the 4-1 win.
All were won in straight sets, but Szymczak defeated Asrian Smith 7-5 in the second frame to secure the win on court five.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GRAND CANYON
For the second time on Friday,
Henrique Ushizima/
Filippo Verdese (5-1) won their doubles flight, as they cruised to a 6-1 win.
However, the Lopes took the other two flights to get the team point.
Despite GCU cruising to the win taking five of the six points, Ushizima (10-10) improved to 6-2 in the spring schedule with a come-from-behind win 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 on court four to take the lone win for the Bisons.
