Box Score 2 NASHVILLE, TN – Lipscomb Softball split its ASUN-opening doubleheader with Bellarmine on Saturday, earning a 5–2 victory in Game 1 before falling 3–1 in Game 2.
GAME 1: LIPSCOMB 5, BELLARMINE 2
Bellarmine struck first in the second inning, plating two runs to take an early 2–0 lead.
Lipscomb answered in the third when Josephine Heuberger singled back to the pitcher to drive in Kyla Jobe, cutting the deficit to one.
The Bisons took the lead in the fifth thanks to aggressive baserunning. Chapel Cunningham stole second while Macyn Kirby swiped third, helping Lipscomb move ahead 3–2.
Lipscomb added insurance in the sixth when Cunningham reached on a fielder's choice and a throwing error allowed Jobe and Briley Burns to score, extending the advantage to 5–2.
In the circle, Brooke Beam delivered a complete-game performance for the Bisons. Beam threw seven innings, allowing eight hits and two earned runs with two walks and one strikeout, finishing the outing with 113 pitches.
GAME 2: BELLARMINE 3, LIPSCOMB 1
Bellarmine struck first in the opening inning of Game 2, taking a 1–0 lead.
Lipscomb evened the score in the fourth inning when Brenna Sherman ripped a double to left-center to drive in Josephine Heuberger, tying the game at 1–1.
Bellarmine regained the lead in the sixth inning and added another run shortly after to create separation.
Despite the effort, the Bisons were unable to generate a late rally as Bellarmine secured the 3–1 victory.
