HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb saw a Kai Holm single and a Cole Pippenger walk to put ducks on the pond in the second inning, but a strikeout and pop out ended the threat.
Mississippi State counter with a two-run homer by Jacob Parker to get on the board first before adding four more, including a three-run bomb by Noah Sullivan to lead 6-0.
The Bisons did respond with two in the top of the third. Hutson Miles got them on the board with a ground-rule double, and Aaron Stelogeannis made it 6-2 with his base knock through the right side.
The score stayed that way until the sixth when the Bulldogs added two more, but in the top of the seventh, the Bisons countered again. Pinch-hitting, Keaton Mahan hit a missile to right field to get one of the runs back, but the squad still trailed 8-3.
