
Baseball Fends Off Austin Peay to Start Series in Nashville

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University Baseball team defeated Austin Peay State University in a 6-5 thriller on Friday evening inside Ken Dugan Field at Stephen Lee Marsh Stadium to open a pivotal three-game series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Things looked dicey for the Bisons to start the game, as Alexander Llinas allowed the first four batters to reach, capping in giving up gave up a grand slam to Andres Matias.
After allowing a walk, Llinas settled in and earned a strikeout and two ground outs to limit the damage.
In the second, the Bisons became the come back with three in the second inning. Hutson Miles brought the first run home on a base knock up the middle.
Damion Kenealy Jr. scored the second run of the inning from second base on a passed ball, and Alejandro Ludeiro followed with a RBI knock to made it a 4-3 deficit.
Llinas settled in, as he induced an inning-ending double play in the third and APSU stranding a runner at third base in the fourth.
After the Govs left two runners on base in the top of the fifth, the Bisons added three runs in the fifth. Kenealy tied the game with a RBI hit to center field.
Next up, Hutson Miles ended a streak of 12 straight singles to start the game with a triple ot deep right center field to give the Bisons a 6-4 lead.
In the eighth, now leading 6-5, Kaleb Kantola worked around two straight walks with a strikeout and a game-saving snag by Cam Pruitt to keep the Govs off the scoreboard.
In the ninth, with the bases loaded for APSU, a Trevor Conley fly out sealed the victory for teh Bisons.
KEY STATISTICS
Cam Pruitt and Danny Ramirez each had three hits to lead Lipscomb in the win. Hutson Miles added three RBI.
Alexander Llinas (3-3) went five innings with three strikeouts, while Kaleb Kantola earned his sixth save of the season with two scoreless innings.
