NASHVILLE -- Lipscomb defeated Kentucky 2-1 on Tuesday at Lipscomb Soccer Complex. After being ahead 2-0 at the half, the Bisons withstood

First Half
- After early Kentucky pressure and a James Sasere shot that was saved, Yonis Kireh opened the scoring for the Bisons in the 18' minute when Luke Hanlon put a beautiful free kick to the back post to the feet of Kireh.
- Alex Kara saved a Thomas Nielsen shot in the 21' minute, keeping Lipscomb ahead.
- The Bisons added to the lead in the 23' minute when Hanlon scored with assists from Sasere and Kylian Karsenty.
- Kentucky pressed over the next few minutes with two corner kicks and five shots, but Kara saved three attempts as the Bisons held the 2-0 scoreline.
- The half closed with a physical stretch that included several fouls, and Kentucky added a late corner and shot before the Bisons reached halftime ahead 2-0.

Second Half
- The half turned physical from the start, with Kentucky turning up the pressure.
-The Wildcats were rewarded in the 59' minute when Michael Lee scored, making it a 2-1 match.
- Kentucky continued to press after the goal, taking six shots and two corner kicks during a stretch in which Kara made a save and the score remained 2-1.
- The Bisons created their own pressure late, getting a saved shot from Jorge Morejon, corner kicks on both sides of attempts by Mateo Secaira and Sasere, and a Benjamin Rasmussen save on Sasere's effort.
- The closing minutes featured great defending by the Bisons to finish off the 2-1 win.

Hanlon scored the game-winning goal, added an assist, and finished with three points on his lone shot. Kireh scored on his only shot attempt. Kara recorded six saves in 90 minutes and was credited with the win. Sasere added an assist and put both of his shots on goal. The win marked the first win over Kentucky since 2017, and only the second in Lipscomb history.

The Bisons are 3-4-1 overall and 2-1-0 in conference play. Kentucky is 0-5-2 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play.
