Wes Wilkerson, who played for Lipscomb from 1997-2000, is widely recognized as one of Bison Baseball’s outstanding two-way players – equally proficient as an offensive weapon and an effective pitcher. He played in 183 games and compiled an impressive .339 career batting average. In 763 at bats he scored 189 runs and collected 259 hits, including 47 doubles, 5 triples, and 38 home runs. He is credited with producing 213 RBI. After his first two seasons, Wes became a part of the Bison pitching staff where he garnered more accomplishments. He hurled 70.1 innings in his two seasons as a pitcher, compiling a 4.49 ERA, including a stellar 3.74 mark his senior year. Wes finished his Lipscomb career as the program’s second-leading home run leader and RBI leader. He was named First Team NAIA All-American in 2000 and TranSouth All-Conference in 1999. After his college playing career Wes signed with the Kansas City Royals. He played for three different MLB organizations at the AAA level: Kansas City, Florida and Cincinnati.
