NASHVILLE - It has been a busy summer for former Bisons on the diamond. Let's take a look at which baseball alumni are representing the Purple and Gold at the next level with a new Bisons in the Pros update.
Michael Gigliotti | CF | Tampa Bay Rays
Gigliotti, who was drafted in the fourth round by the Kansas City Royals in 2017, was dealt to the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday where he will join the 60-player pool there.
Josh Smith | P | Miami Marlins
After making 18 appearances and two starts with the Boston Red Sox in 2019, Smith signed with the Marlins in December. So far this season, Smith has appeared in 13 games, starting one, and has a 1-0 record. This is Smith's fourth team, after previous stops with the Cincinnati Reds, Oakland Athletics, and the Red Sox.
Rex Brothers | P | Chicago Cubs
Brothers has taken the mound twice for the Cubs in his return to the Majors this season. The southpaw signed with Chicago in December. The Cubs are Brothers' third team, following stints with the Colorado Rockies and Atlanta Braves.
Caleb Joseph | C | Toronto Blue Jays
After signing with the Blue Jays back in January, Joseph was selected to the active roster in August and has since made nine plate appearances across three games. He also showed off his air drumming skills. This is Joseph's third team after stops with the Baltimore Orioles and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Minor League Update:
Minor league baseball was mostly canceled this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but several Bisons are still operating at that level in some capacity. Pitchers Chris Kachmar and Jeffrey Passantino are still in the Chicago Cubs organization, infielder Lee Solomon is still with the San Diego Padres organization, pitcher Brady Puckett is still with the Miami Marlins organization, and pitcher Chris Nunn has made three appearances with the independent AA St. Paul Saints this summer.
