Guilfoil, Houghton Tabbed Perfect Game Preseason All-Conference

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA -  Pitcher Tyler Guilfoil and outfielder Maddux Houghton have been named to Perfect Game's Preseason All-Conference Team, Perfect Game announced this week.

Lipscomb was one of five schools that had two players earn preseason All-Conference honors (FGCU, Jacksonville, Liberty, Stetson). Kennesaw State had the most with three players honored.

After coming into the spotlight during his freshman season with an All-Freshman Team selection, Guilfoil was settling into his role as the shutdown closer. The Lexington, Kentucky native ranked first in all of Division I in saves (6) over his eight appearances. The right-hander earned a record of 1-0 and posted an ERA of 0.00 over 13.0 innings of work to go along with 18 strikeouts. He also rarely allowed a hit holding opponents to just a .071 batting average for the third-best mark in the ASUN.

Houghton, who earned a 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team selection, returns to command the Bisons outfield from his center field position. In 16 games last season he hit .295 with 18 hits and 11 RBI to go along with a .377 slugging percentage, two doubles and one home run. The Dalton, Georgia native also displayed his speed on the base paths going a perfect 6-for-6 on stolen bases. When it comes to defense, the junior recorded a perfect fielding percentage of 1.000, which was tops in the ASUN to go along with 56 putouts and multiple web-gem diving catches.
