ATHENS, Ga. - The Lipscomb baseball team fell to Georgia by a score of 10-0 on Friday night at Foley Field.
It was a rough go for the Bisons, who were making their return to the diamond after last playing a game on February 28. At the plate, Lipscomb was held to just three hits on the night and allowed 16 hits from the mound.
The Purple and Gold found themselves in an early hole with Georgia scoring three runs in the first inning. A pair of RBI singles from Corey Collins and Riley King and a sacrifice fly by Josh McAllister got the scoring started for the Bulldogs.
Georgia extended its lead to 7-0 in the fourth. A leadoff double, followed by a single brought in the first run. A walk then put runners on first and second, which set the table for Collins, who hit a three-run home run to left field.
The Bulldogs scored their final three runs in the sixth as Connor Tate, King and McAllister hit back-to-back-to-back solo shots, making it a 10-0 ballgame.
Two of Lipscomb's hits came in the fourth on singles from Carter Smith and Chris Bashlor. Malik Williams added a double in the ninth, but that would be all for the Bisons.
HERD NOTES:
Lipscomb and Georgia return to the diamond tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for noon CT.
