Lipscomb got off to a good start, retiring the Blue Raiders in the top of the first inning, but Middle Tennessee quickly surged out to the lead in the top of the second with a pair of runs for a 2-0 lead.

The Bisons offense was unable to get anything going offensively and MTSU kept its offensive momentum with two more runs in the top of the third. Three more innings in the top of the fourth gave Middle Tennessee a 7-0 lead.

Lipscomb's bullpen locked in through the last five innings holding the Blue Raiders to just one hit and striking out five, but the Bisons' offense was unable to get anything going and was shutout 7-0 Tuesday evening.

HERD NOTES

Lipscomb was outhit 8-4.
David Coppedge, Malik Williams, John Shields and August Haymaker each had a hit.
Each team had one error on the night.
