LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Lipscomb men's and women's track and field teams continued their successful start to the indoor season by breaking two program records and tallying nine top-five finishes at the PNC Bellarmine Classic on Friday.
Freshman
Makayla Watson found success early in the meet by breaking the indoor program record in the 60m dash with a time of 7.71, which broke the previous record of 7.73 that was set last season. Her time also ranks tied for 7
th in the ASUN so far this season.
Sophomore
Kennedy Miller followed suit by smashing her own record in the 200m dash for the third meet in a row with a time of 25.02, which ranks tied for 5
th in the ASUN so far this season.
Senior
Ally Suyak and junior
Mollie Longmire crossed 2
nd (9:45.41) and 3
rd (9:45.46) in the 3,000m invite, while sophomore
Sydney Liddle finished 4
th (4:52.83) in the 1-mile run. Freshmen
Abigail Horevay and
Ellie Brewer also posted a 6
th (9:51.79) and 7
th-place finish (10:03.74) respectively.
Sophomore
Aislinn McElhaney and sophomore
Kaylee Wilson crossed 8
th in the 400m dash (57.91) and in the 3,000m run (10:33.39).
Junior
Austin Remick paced the men's squad in Louisville by winning the 3,000m invite (8:12.00), while both junior
Braedon Palmer and senior
Demontae Wilson both crossed 2
nd in the 800m run (1:52.81) and in the 200m dash (22.09) respectively.
Sophomores
Cole Kimmel and
Ben Butcher were also 5
th (8:26.17) and 7
th (8:28.21) in 3,000m run respectively.
UP NEXT:
The Bisons will return to action next Friday and Saturday as the Herd will send a team to both the Samford Bulldog Invite in Birmingham, Alabama and the Music City Challenge in Nashville. Both meets are the team's final tune-up before competing in the ASUN Indoor Track & Field Championships starting on Friday, Feb. 24.
