GAME ONE

The Bisons got off to a hot start in game one. Caleb Ketchup had a leadoff single and stole second for an early runner in scoring position. With two outs, Trace Willhoite stepped to the plate and delivered an RBI double to the right-center field gap for a 1-0 lead. Austin Kelly kept the momentum going with a long ball that plated two more runs. With a 3-0 lead, Lipscomb would load the bases, but they were stranded before doing any more damage.Â

Stetson threatened to cut into the early lead in the bottom of the first with a runner at third, but Ketchup saved a run with a strong defensive play in the gap to keep the 3-0 lead.Â

In the top of the second inning, Ketchup kept the hot offense going with a leadoff home run for a 4-0 lead. Things stayed hot for the Bisons when a walk and sacrifice bunt put another in scoring position. A single by Willhoite and a double from Kelly plated two more for a 6-0 lead. Lipscomb wasn't done as Jake Berg singled to left center for another RBI as the Bisons held a 7-0 lead after the top of the second inning.Â

Braydon Tucker continued his good work on the bump with a one, two, three inning in the bottom of the second.Â

The third inning started out as more of the same for the Bisons when David Coppedge smashed a leadoff home run for an 8-0 lead. Will Lee kept things going with a single to center field. Ketchup then got his third hit of the day with a double down the left field line. Lee showed his speed to score all the way from first for a 9-0 advantage. The Bisons then took advantage of a Stetson error for a 10-0 lead as Ketchup crossed home plate. The runs kept coming when Alex Vergara scored on an RBI single from Kelly for an 11-0 advantage. The flood gates stayed open when two more runs scored for the Bisons for a 13-0 lead before the top of the third was over.Â

Stetson got a pair of runs back in the bottom of the third, but the Bisons remained in control after the first three full innings with a 13-2 lead.Â

Things started to slow down when the fourth and fifth innings were scoreless on both sides of the ball.Â

The Bisons got back on the board in the top of the sixth with a pair of runs, extending the lead 15-2. The score remained the same through the seventh inning as the Bisons took a run-rule victory in seven innings in the first game of a Sunday double header. Â

Much differently than the other two games in the series, the first inning was scoreless, as the defense flexed its muscles.Â
Â
Stetson took its first lead of the series in the bottom of the second when a bases-loaded walk drove home a run for a 1-0 Hatters advantage. Another bases-loaded walk gave the Hatters a 2-0 lead before a grand slam blew the gates open for a 6-0 lead after the first two innings.Â
Â
Tyler Legere came out of the bullpen in relief for the Bisons in the bottom of the third and held the Hatters scoreless to keep the Bisons in striking distance.Â
Â
Stetson added a run in the bottom of the fourth for a 4-0 lead. Lipscomb, however, bounced back with a run in the top of the fifth. Lipscomb loaded the bases with the help of a walk and hits from Vergara and Lee. Mason Lundgrin was able to drive a run home with a sacrifice fly, cutting the Hatters' lead 7-1 in the middle of the fifth.Â

After holding Stetson scoreless in the bottom of the fifth, Austin Kelly put another run on the board for Lipscomb with a leadoff solo home run over the right field fence for a 7-2 deficit.Â

Stetson plated one more in the bottom of the sixth for an 8-2 lead heading into the final inning.Â

Lipscomb was unable to drive any more runs across home plate and eventually fell 8-2 in the final game of the series.Â
