ATLANTA, Ga. – Logan Van Treeck was Named Pitcher for the week for his performance on Friday, the league announced Monday.
Van Treeck pitched a complete outing in game one of the Bisons' 2-1 series win over the Liberty Flames, the team ball club picked to finish first in the ASUN in the preseason. Van Treeck allowed three hits in nine innings of work and held the Flames to one run while also striking out seven batters.
The junior from Lincoln, Nebraska, made his first start of the season in the outing on Friday after being a middle inning guy for the first half of the season. He's pitched 29.0 innings this season in nine appearances with an ERA of 3.72 to go along with 35 strikeouts. The win moved Van Treeck to 2-3 on the year.
The selection marks the second week a Bisons pitcher has won the award. Noah Thompson was named ASUN Pitcher of the Week for his complete game performance last week against Queens (N.C.). This achievement also marks the first time the lefty has won the award in his career.
Lipscomb will travel to take on No. 18 Louisville at Jim Patterson Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky, on Tuesday, April 4, at 5:00 p.m. CT. The Bisons will then jump back into ASUN play with a weekend road series against North Alabama. The three-game slate in Florence starts Thursday, April 6, at 6:00 p.m. CT.
