NASHVILLE, TN – Lipscomb Track & Field spent their second consecutive weekend at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility for the first day of the Vanderbilt Invitational. Hosted by the Commodores, the meet lasted two days with the events spanning from the early morning of each day into the late night. During the events held on the second day of the meet, four Bisons set program records in their respective events.
On the second day of the action,
Max Hooper set the program record for the Men's Mile and placed second overall in the event. With a time of 3:59.89, Hooper is the first indoor track and field athlete to run a sub-four minute mile in the history of the program. Hooper is just a freshman, setting the school record in his first time competing in the mile in his collegiate career.
Not long after,
Justin Davis, last week's ASUN Men's Field Athlete of the Week, set a new Lipscomb record in the triple jump. After an ASUN-leading performance in the long jump last weekend, Davis recorded a 14.9m triple jump, smashing his previous personal best of 14.69m. Davis is competing in his sophomore season, although it is his first repping Purple and Gold.
Colbi Borland set the third program record of the day and her second on the year. She finished the 3000m in 9:18.13, over six seconds ahead of second place. Borland led the pack the entirety of the event and secure first place with her astounding time.
Braedon Palmer set the final program record of the day in the 3000m. Palmer finished first in the event by just under seven seconds, crossing the line in 7:58.95. Palmer crushed his previous personal best time of 8:04.44 to set the Lipscomb record.
