NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University baseball team, after dropping an 11-0 game to the University of Kentucky in the opening game of a Friday doubleheader from Ken Dugan Field, came back strong in the night cap to take down the Wildcats, 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
After a scoreless first inning, Kentucky used an RBI single by Patrick Herrera in the second and a three-run homer by Cole Hage to get out to a 4-0 lead after three.
After adding a run in the fourth, UK tacked on five runs in the fifth to put the game away via run rule.
The Bisons had chances early in the contest. After a dropped ball error by the Kentucky second baseman on a fielder's choice by
Casey Sunseri to load the bases, Nic McCay was able to get out of the jam with a strikeout on the next batter.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
In the night cap,
Rigo Ramos was able to keep the Wildcats off the board, as he faced one batter over the minimum through four frames, including a called third strike on Devin Burkes to end the first.
The Bisons got the bats going in the bottom of the fourth. Following a leadoff walk by
Jacob Tobias and a bunt single by
David Coppedge,
Keaton Mahan also put down a bunt to attempt to move both runners into scoring position, but a bad throw by Burkes saw Tobias score on the play to get the good guys on the board first.
Next up,
Damion Kenealy Jr came up and laced a hit to left field to drive in Coppedge for the 2-0 score.
Later, a wild pitch by starter Ben Cleaver made it a 3-0 advantage for the Bisons.
In the fifth, Kentucky wanted to answer, and after a single and two walks to load the bases with one out off of Ramos. However, the Bowling Green transfer slammed the door with back-to-back strikeouts to keep the visitors off the scoreboard.
In the ninth, the Wildcats avoided the shutout with an RBI single by Dylan Koontz, but a flyout by pinch hitter Raphael Pelletier sealed the win for the Bisons and gave the save to
Kaleb Kantola.
KEY STATISTICS
Rigo Ramos (1-0) picked up the win for Lipscomb, tossing five shutout innings with two hits allowed and four punch outs.
Aaron Stelogeannis added a 2-for-2 night cap with a walk.
Keaton Mahan and
Damion Kenealy Jr each had an RBI in the win.

After taking Saturday off due to the impending inclement weather, the Bisons and Wildcats will wrap up the series with a rubber match Sunday at 1 p.m. from Ken Dugan Field.
