Box Score 2 STATESBORO, GA – After going 1-1 on the first day of the Georgia Southern Tournament, the Bisons were set to rematch both the Furman Paladins and the Georgia Southern Eagles on day two. While the Bisons swept Furman on the weekend with a 1-0 victory that came down to the last at-bat, they were unable to top Georgia Southern in a 13-0 loss.

After winning against the Paladin 6-1 yesterday, the Bisons looked to repeat their performance to start the second day of the Georgia Southern Tournament.
Lipscomb's first potential scoring opportunity presented itself in the second inning.
Josey Polk singled to center field to open the inning and advanced two bases within the next two plays, both of which resulted in outs for the batters. With J. Polk on third and two outs for the Bisons,
Macey Ogle stepped up to the plate but couldn't send Josey home before being tagged out.
Entering the seventh inning, neither team was yet to score. With the game on the line,
Ryleigh Sapp allowed only one hit and struck two batters out before the fourth batter grounded out to shortstop, and the Bisons recorded their third out.
The Bisons' first two batters in the bottom of the seventh hit groundouts that resulted in them being tagged out.
Mallory Ogle singled to left field to get on base with two outs and
Alyssa Hastings batting. Hastings made a big play, doubling to right center and sending M. Ogle home to win the game. Hasting's RBI is her third of the season on 24 at-bats through 8 games.
The Bisons' defense stepped up big time in the game, allowing one hit in the first inning and none afterward until the top of the sixth. Sapp had a standout game, pitching full innings and recording strikeouts for all three outs in the top of the fifth. She ended the game with three hits allowed (career low), nine strikeouts (career high), 28 batters faced, and seven flyouts.
GEORGIA SOUTHERN 13, LIPSCOMB 0
The Eagles got off to a hot start, scoring five runs and earning five RBI four consecutive plays in the bottom of the first. The Bisons were forced to relieve
Laine Barefoot with
Courtney Sauer.
By the time the Bisons recorded their first hit in the second, they were down 6-0 on seven hits, almost double the amount they allowed in their first matchup with the Eagles the entire game.
Georgia Southern loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the second, allowing them to score four runs with three RBI in five at-bats before the Bisons caught a fly ball. Entering the third, the Eagles recorded ten hits and ten runs to the Bisons' one hit and no runs.
Lipscomb continued to struggle at the plate, ending the top of the third after three consecutive outs. The Bisons recorded an out on the Eagle's first at-bat before allowing a single. The third batter sent a homer to right field, recording a two-run homer for a 12-0 lead.
The Eagles kept scoring while shutting the Bisons out, ending the fourth inning up 13-0.
Lipscomb recorded two hits in the game from
Elle Smith and
Tori Womack.
Brenna Sherman took a hit by pitch, but no runs were scored from the Bisons.

Lipscomb will close out the Georgia Southern Tournament, facing off against Harvard tomorrow morning at 8:30 AM CT.
