Kai Holm Featured on Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award Watch List

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Announced by the College Baseball Foundation on Friday, shortstop Kai Holm from the Lipscomb University baseball team has been selected as one of the top 100 players to appear on the Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Watch List.

The award honors the nation's top shortstop and will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year. It is named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977 to 1980. Wallace died of leukemia at the age of 27.

"Kai has been a great addition to our team. He has solidified his spot in the middle of our lineup while playing a solid shortstop. He has been a run producer and a table-setter for us all season," said head coach Jeff Forehand

Holm, a senior from Redwood City, California, has been a force for the Bisons in the lineup, hitting .310 with six home runs and 23 RBI in 32 games this season. His .310 batting average is good for 23rd in the ASUN, and his six home runs are not only tied for the team lead but it is also 15th-best in the league.

On the field, his 64 assists are good for 18th in the league.

Holm is one of three players from the Atlantic Sun Conference on the listing, joining Landon Akers from Bellarmine and Lorenzo Meola from Stetson.
