HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb got the bats going in the bottom of the first with two outs. After a Parks Bouck double, David Coppedge followed with an RBI knock to get on the board first.
Following a Kai Holm base hit and a Damion Kenealy Jr. walk to load the bases, Jake Berg launched a 356-foot grand slam to left field to make it a 5-0 lead.
UCA used three straight extra base hits, including two long balls, to make it a 5-4 deficit in the fourth. However, Lipscomb tacked on a run in the bottom half with an RBI hit by Aaron Stelogeannis.
After Jake Lynch came in the fifth and sixth by retiring six of the first eight batters, Collin Goda's first home run of the season in a Bisons uniform to make it a 7-4 advantage after sixth.
Lipscomb added insurance runs in the seventh and eighth. An RBI triple by Corey Boyette made it a 9-4 score after seven. To start the eighth, Stelogeannis's fourth home run of the year made it a 10-4 score.
The Bisons added three more in the eighth and took a 13-4 lead into the ninth. However, the Bears did not go away quietly, as they extended the game with two runs. However, a fly out to Parks Bouck following a pitching change sealed the win and the series for Lipscomb.
KEY STATISTICS
The Bisons, for the second straight game, saw all nine of their starting lineup reach base. Aaron Stelogeannis posted his fourth straight multi-hit game with a 3-for-5 night, launching his fourth home run of the season with two RBI.
David Coppedge added three hits and two RBI, while Jake Berg posted a career-high five RBI with his second homer of the season and the third grand slam of the season for the Bisons.
Jake Lynch (2-2) slammed the door for Lipscomb, tossing four shutout innings with a career-high five strikeouts.
