NASHVILLE – Lipscomb bounced back with a 14-7 win over Austin Peay Tuesday night at Ken Dugan field, snapping a four-game losing skid.
Haddon Adams,
Tiger Borom and
Chris Bashlor all notched multiple hits to contribute to the Bisons' 11-hit outing.
Caleb Williams earned his first win of the season throwing two innings allowing no hits and no runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Haddon Adams got things going for the Bisons with a leadoff double. He would eventually come around to score for a 1-0 lead.
The offensive momentum kept going for Lipscomb as they plated two more in the bottom of the first.
Chris Bashlor singled to left field for another run and the final score came off a wild pitch for a 3-0 lead.
Lipscomb continued to pour it on with four runs in the bottom of the second. After a couple of walks to start the inning, both runners advanced to scoring position on a balk. Bertolani put two more runs on the board with a single through the left side for a 5-0 lead.
Bashlor stayed hot at the plate and hammered a home run well past the left field fence for a two-run long ball and increased the lead 7-0.
The Governors started to battle back with two runs in the fourth and four in the fifth to cut the Lipscomb lead 6-7.
Lipscomb pulled away in the bottom of the sixth with a big inning that plated seven runs.
The leadoff walk came around to score when Adams barreled his second ball of the night to increase the Bisons' lead 8-6. The hitting was contagious as Borom stepped up to the plate with a single to center to put runners on the corners.
After another walk juiced the bases, Bashlor was hit by a pitch which drove another run across home plate for a 9-6 lead.
Carter Smith kept things moving with a single through the right side for two more runs.
Lipscomb's lead continued to increase to 12-6 when
Robbie Merced delivered an RBI single to center field.
The hits kept coming as
Brian Moore dropped a ball in shallow left field for two more RBI and a 14-6 lead before the big inning was over.
Austin Peay tried to start a rally in the seventh but was only to plate one run (14-7).
Neither team scored in the final innings, securing the Bisons' 14-7 victory.

Lipscomb will be back at Ken Dugan Field Thursday, April 1 to start a three-game series against Bellarmine. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. CT.
