ATHENS – Lipscomb dropped a heartbreaking 3-2 decision Sunday afternoon in extra-innings against No. 7 Georgia at Foley Field.

The Bisons trailed the Bulldogs 2-0 heading into the top of the ninth but rallied to tie the game 2-2. Malik Williams delivered the RBI single in the top of the ninth that tied the game, but the Bulldogs ultimately ended things in the bottom of the 12^th.

Haddon Adams and Tiger Borom were the other Bisons that notched hits on the day.

Lipscomb had its best opportunity of the game so far in the top of the fourth inning. Haddon Adams leadoff with a double to the right-center field gap. He would then tag up to third on the next out to put himself just 90-feet from the first score of the afternoon.

With two outs and a runner in scoring position, Williams stepped to the plate. He battled and fouled several off to keep the Bisons' chances alive, but a ground ball to the second baseman ended the inning scoreless.

Georgia responded with some offense of their own in the bottom of the fourth with a leadoff double. With two outs, Logan Van Treeck forced a ground ball. Lipscomb thought they had the out at first to end the inning, but after an official review, the call was overturned, and the runner was called safe at first. The run that crossed the plate would also count for a 1-0 lead.

The Bulldogs increased the lead 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth. Georgia had the bases juiced and looked to add to the damage, but Tyler Guilfoil gets one swinging to end the inning with minimal damage.

Things got interesting in the top of the ninth when Lipscomb rallied to tie the game 2-2. The first two Bison batters of the inning worked walks to put the tying runs aboard. Carter Smith pushed the runners to scoring position when he laid down a beautiful sacrifice bunt.

The Bisons finally got on the board when Brian Moore showed his speed and slid under the tag at home plate on a sacrifice fly to cut the UGA lead 2-1.

With two outs, Malik Williams stepped to the plate with the tying run 90-feet from home. A clutch piece of hitting, Williams blasted a single up the middle for the tying RBI.

With things all knotted up, Lipscomb juiced the bases after working another walk and a hit-batsman. Tiger Borom got a good barrel on the final pitch of the inning, but an impressive play in foul territory by the Georgia left fielder ended the inning 2-2.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Bulldogs' leadoff man reached with a base knock through the left side.

With one on and no outs, Noah Thompson took over the mound. He made efficient work, retiring the first batter he saw. He then picked-off the runner at first and struck out the batter to send the game to extra innings.

Unable to score in the top of the 10^th, Lipscomb's defense held strong in the home half of the inning, turning a double play to keep the game going.

Still tied heading into the bottom of the 11^th, Thompson held strong on the mound and forced a three up, three down inning capped off by his second strikeout of the afternoon.

The top of the 12^th inning was full of excitement, starting with Tiger Borom blasting a one-out triple.

Borom stayed aggressive on the base paths and attempted to steal home with two outs but was caught to keep things knotted 2-2.

In the bottom of the 12^th the Bulldogs knocked on the door with runners on first and second. A base hit up the middle was enough for the runner in second to score and steal the 3-2 victory.

Thompson fell to 0-2 on the season. He threw 3.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits. Starting pitcher, Logan Van Treeck threw five complete innings, with four hits and two runs.
