RALEIGH, N.C. – Lipscomb's men's and women's track & field programs continued their outdoor season by competing in the prestigious three-day Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State. The Bisons tallied five new program records, eight top-20 finishes, and numerous new personal bests in a successful weekend in North Carolina.
Freshman
Makayla Watson led the Bisons over the weekend by breaking two individual outdoor program records (100m and 200m) and teaming up with sophomore
Aislinn McElhaney, sophomore
Kiara Carter, and sophomore
Kennedy Miller to break the outdoor program record in the 4x400m relay. sophomore
Lydia Miller and junior
Austin Remick also broke the outdoor program records in the women's 5K and the men's 3,000m steeplechase over the weekend.
Remick paced Lipscomb on Thursday night as he broke the outdoor program record in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 8:50.06 (12th place overall), with junior
Nick Regas and freshman
Brady Yingst finishing with time of 9:06.43 and 9:17.08 in the event respectively. Sophomore
Brady Johnson and freshman
James Schmidt also posted times of 3:46.04 and 3:49.61 in the men's 1,500m run respectively.
Sophomore
Colbi Borland and senior
Ally Suyak finished 21st (34:12.68) in the 10,000m invitational and 25th (35:37.09) in the 10,000m run respectively.
Watson continued the Bisons' success on the second day of the Raleigh Relays by breaking the outdoor program record in the 100m dash with a time of 11.89, while Miller posted a time of 12.27 in the event as well. Miller also broke the outdoor program record in the 5K with a time of 16:04.50, while sophomore
Mackenzie Barnett posted a time of 16:47.24 in the event as well.
Sophomore
Bella Jackson finished tied for 9th in the women's high jump (1.67m), while Carter and freshman
Liza Corso posted times of 4:22.13 and 4:22.97 in the women's 1,500m run respectively. Junior
Mollie Longmire, sophomore
Sydney Liddle, and freshman
Aly Negovetich also crossed with times of 4:30.76, 4:30.89, and 4:39.68 respectively in the 1,500m run.
Seniors
Deven Ward and
Demontae Wilson also posted times of 11.13 in the 100m dash and 48.80 in the 400m dash respectively.
Watson broke her second individual outdoor program record on Saturday by breaking the 200m dash outdoor record with a time of 24.74, while also teaming up with Miller, Carter, and McElhaney to break the 4x400m relay record with a time of 3:47.54. Carter and McElhaney also posted a time of 2:08.24 in the 800m run and a distance of 5.69m in the long jump to close out the weekend.
Freshman
Levi Streeval and senior
Bill Comstock posted times of 1:50.51 and 1:52.96 in the 800m run respectively, while Ward and Wilson tallied times of 21.79 and 21.88 in the 200m dash respectively. The 4x400m relay team of Ward, Wilson, Streeval and Comstock also posted a time of 3:20.50.
