Track & Field Completes Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb track & field completed their outdoor regular season slate at the Music City Challenge with a series of program records in the local meet. The Bisons delivered a quartet of program records with 18 personal bests in their final meet before the 2024 ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Conference Championships.

Sophomore Makayla Watson recorded two of the Bisons' four program records while she competed in the sprinting events for the Purple and Gold. She clocked a 23.89 in the women's 200m dash on Friday to set her first program record of the season before clocking a 11.68 in the women's 100m dash on Saturday to earn her second program record of the weekend.

Freshman Braeden Ofosu-Kwarteng clocked the second program record on Saturday for the Bisons as he logged a 21.02 in the men's 200m dash to finish third overall in the event.

Kiara Carter clocked a 2:03.05 in the women's 800m to finish first overall in the event, setting a new program record in the process.

The Bisons' collected a slate of additional top-5 finishes over the weekend.

On the women's side, Leonie Saurer brought home a first-place finish in the women's 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:32.77. Saurer was joined on top of the podium by Mackenzie Barnett and Lydia Miller with a first-place finish and third place finish in the women's 5,000m as Barnett logged a time of 16:19.39 and Miller clocked a 16:46.80 in the event.

Sydney Liddle recorded another third-place finish for the squad with a time of 9:58.74 the women's 3,000m while Bella Jackson earned fourth place in the invitational section of the women's high jump with a height of 1.70m (5' 7").

The men's squad recorded some impressive finishes of their own with Brady Johnson, James Schmidt, and the quartet of Braeden Ofosu-Kwarteng, Nathan Wallace, Levi Streeval, and Saxon Brown all earning first place finishes.

Johnson clocked a 1:49.90 in the men's 800m, Schmidt recorded a 3:41.71 in the men's 1,500m, and the quartet clocked a 3:15.95 to bring home the third first place finish of the weekend for the men's team.

Freshman Joe Kennedy earned a third place finish in the men's 100m dash preliminaries with a time of 10.46 while Cole Kimmel earned his third place finish in the men's 3,000m with a time of 8:31.37.

AJ Goecker and Bing Hudson earned a pair of personal bests int the men's 3,000m steeplechase with times of 8:51.20 and 8:53.94 to finish second and fourth overall respectively.

The Bisons will head to Conway, Ark. over Thursday, May 9-Saturday, May 11^th to compete in the 2024 ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
