OXFORD, Miss. / CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Lipscomb men's and women's track & field teams traveled to compete in both the Joe Walker Invite, hosted by Ole Miss, on Friday and Saturday, while also competing in the Flames Invitational, hosted by Lee University, on Friday. The Bisons broke three program records, won three overall events, tallied 18 total top-5 finishes, and numerous personal bests in a successful weekend.
Sophomore
Aislinn McElhaney, along with freshmen
Liza Corso, and
Makayla Watson all broke program records to lead the women's side at the Joe Walker Invite. McElhaney posted a distance of 6.02m in the women's long jump to break her own outdoor program record and finish 3rd overall in the event. Corso shattered the outdoor 1,500m run program record with a time of 4:20.97 to cross second overall in the event, and Watson continued her record-breaking start to the outdoor season by setting a new outdoor 200m dash record with a time of 24.60.
Freshman
Brady Yingst and junior
Scott McKenzie paced the men's side at the Joe Walker Invite by winning three total events. Yingst won the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:01.67 and also posted a victory in the 1,500m run with a time of 3:52.05, while McKenzie won the 5,000m invite with a time of 14:08.36.
The Bisons also captured 18 top-5 finishes across the two meets they competed in, including junior
Maddie Moody, who led Lipscomb at the Flames Invitational by crossing fourth overall in the 10,000m run (35:39.37).
UP NEXT:
The Bisons will next travel to California to compete in both the Mt. SAC Invite and the Bryan Clay Invitational starting on Thursday, April 13.
